  • "VanHemert, who has been releasing albums for the past five years, is certainly a notable musician. Especially if you are a fan of jazz in Korea, you need to take a closer look at his work”

    — Hwang Deok-ho - MMJazz (Korea)

  • "The newest release from Jordan VanHemert not only showcases how technically gifted he is on the saxophone but also showcases the depth of his personal life….Sparkling phrases with silences in between will catch the audience's attention. Here is the musical expression of what it means to be alive.

    —The Walkers (Japan)

  • "In many ways, this album feels like a gift to life itself. There's not a trace of bitterness or darkness here; instead, VanHemert smiles at the world through radiant compositions, where friendship among the musicians acts as a golden thread woven invisibly between them. The result is a kind of musical alchemy one that blooms across the record with ever-growing inventiveness, imbuing the album with a sense of springlike renewal. "

Jordan’s Take on Recording Music

Recording is one of the ways that we preserve music and leave an artistic legacy. It is really fun to get a chance to fulfill an artistic intention, whether it’s my own or someone else’s, from beginning to end.

When I record as a support musician, it’s my goal to provide someone the best

When someone reaches out, I love to set up an initial conversation about the music and the bandleader’s vision. After that, I learn the music and rehearse, even if just with the bandleader. If I’m composing or arranging for the album, I like to try to get a feel for that artist’s style. When we hit the studio, I perform the music as efficiently as possible. I know budgets are limited and time is money, so efficiency is key.
